Being Thankful!

"O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people. Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk of all of his wondrous works" (Psalm 105:1-2).

Being thankful for the trials

It's effortless to thank God for all the "things" in life that we have (houses, cars, clothes, etc). I want to thank God for all the "trials" I have endured in my life, as well as those things that make me happy. The last few years have been arduous on me to put it mildly, but I praise God for the trials I have endured. I am a changed person today because of the trials God has allowed in my life. Altered for the better! I thank God for my leg injury. I have been able to stay home with my daughter for a year now and have taken great pleasure in spending that sweet time with her. Our children grow so quickly, and you can never get back their 3's and 4's. I have been able to enjoy them immensely with her. This trial and many other trials have drawn me closer to God and mended and restored my broken relationship with Jesus. God allowed these things for my good. Romans 8:28 says, And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." Even my leg injury works together for my good according to this verse.

I think it is natural for us to want to run as far away as we can from trials in our lives, but if we knew the good that God would do threw them, we would likely run towards these trails instead of away from them. I have a lot to be thankful for today. I think instead of having 1 day a year that we remember to be thankful, we should have 364 days to be thankful, and 1 day to complain. God has given us abundant and extravagant gifts that we regularly take for granted rather than give due thanks for.

Look at the beauty in everything and it is easy to find reasons to be thankful. How beautiful the birds are and how awesome it is to watch them soar and glide through the air with ease, how beautiful all the trees are and the abundant miscellany of trees to look at every day, or the symmetry in something as simple as a snow flake. Life is amazing and the fact that all who are reading this have a life, two eyes, a heartbeat, and so much more is cause for great joy and thanksgiving. Thank you, Lord, for everything! I love you, and I am in amazement of your beautiful creation, your love, and all you have given me.
