Proof for unbelievers

Prophecy proves it

To disbelieve that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, you have to force yourself to not believe it. I will prove it to any reasonable person– Guaranteed. Take a little time here to read my post. I think even the strongest skeptics or unbelievers have to really lie to themselves if they don’t believe Jesus is God after reading a tiny tidbit of evidence, which I provide in this blog.

You don't have to believe the Bible is God's word

Whether or not you believe the Bible is God’s Word, you cannot deny that prophecies in the Bible prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that Jesus is God. The Old Testament in the Bible, whether or not you believe it is truly the word of God has been proven to be written before the time of Jesus. In fact, if I remember correctly, the Old Testament books were finished some 400 years before the birth of Jesus. This is verifiable fact. Jesus fulfilled over 300 Messianic prophecies from the Old Testament scriptures that we can verify.

Small sample of Messianic Prophecies

Here are just a few of the prophecies: He would be born as a human male. He would come from the tribe of Judah. He would be a descendant of David. He would be born in Bethlehem. His birth would trigger a massacre of infant boys. His mission would include the Gentiles. His ministry would include miraculous healing's. He would be despised and rejected by men. He would be rejected by rulers. He would be rejected by his own brothers. He would be betrayed for 30 pieces of silver. His hands and feet would be nailed. He would be given vinegar and gall to drink, which they did while he was on the cross. None of his bones would be broken in the crucifixion process. Soldiers would gamble for his clothing. He was buried in a rich man’s tomb. There are tons and tons more. These few are to just give a small sample for the sake of keeping this post manageable.

Dr. Peter Stoner Study

As I said, there are over 300 prophesies that Jesus fulfilled. A man named, Dr. Peter Stoner estimated the odds of just 48 out of the 300 or so prophecies he fulfilled from the Old Testament. For just 48 prophecies, the mathematical odds are calculated at 1 in 10 to the 157th power. Here is how the odds are calculated. Just as an example, let’s say that 1 in 150,000 people in the world are born in Bethlehem. It’s actually quite a bit higher. Ok, so then let’s say 1 in 10 people born are descendants of David (actually quite a bit higher). So you take 150,000 times 10. That equals 1 million, 500 thousand total. Next, you estimate how many people that ever lived were betrayed for exactly 30 pieces of silver. Let’s just say that 1 in a 1000 have been betrayed for exactly 30 pieces of silver (probably astronomically higher odds). So, you then multiply 1.5 million times a thousand. That’s 1 person in 1 billion, 500 thousand people. Next you estimate how many people have been crucified and multiply that number times 1.5 billion. Dr. Stoner estimated that with just 8 prophecies, that 1 in 100, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000 had a chance at being the Messiah. That is just 8 prophecies and there are over 300 other prophecies fulfilled, that the number is so high that it becomes incomprehensible. I hope that I have described probability theory in a clear manner so that you can understand what I am saying. Mathematicians generally agree that any odds beyond 1 in 10 to the 50th power have a zero probability of ever happening by random chance. With just 48 prophecies calculated, we have 1 in 10 to the 157th power. That number is so long that I would crash this blog software if I tried to post that many zero’s.

In addition to all these odds, Daniel predicted the exact year of the crucifixion of Jesus. Daniel predicted 600 years earlier that 483 years would pass between the issuing of the decree to build Jerusalem and the murder of the Messiah. That is exactly how many years passed according to scholars who have carefully investigated this particular prophecy. That means that nobody before Jesus or after Jesus could claim to be the Messiah, even if they claimed to be the Messiah. I didn't even consider the prophecy that Jesus would be born of a virgin just to eliminate any skeptics. Obviously, only 1 person has ever been born of a virgin. Regardless of whether or not you believe Jesus was born of a virgin, there are so many other prophecies that have been verified that I don’t even need to use that one to drive home my point.

Conclusion

There is no chance that Jesus could have fulfilled these prophecies unless he was the Son of God. No chance!! There are many other compelling arguments that Jesus is God, but this one works even for those whom do not believe the Bible is God’s word. Maybe you think it is just a great book, a wise book, or even a dumb book. How do you explain 300 prophecies Jesus fulfilled that were written in the Bible several hundred and in some cases a couple thousand years before the birth of Jesus? It is unfathomable, impossible, and inconceivable!

So, if you choose to believe in some other religion or to believe that there is no God, or that Jesus Himself is not God, you have to constantly lie to yourself. I didn't even touch on the miracle of life or hundreds of other compelling arguments and evidence that Jesus is God.

If you are an unbeliever, I challenge you to chew on this for a while because there is nothing more important in life. If Jesus is God and Jesus is the only hope for salvation, then whether or not Jesus is God becomes an enormous matter of importance to every living soul. God bless!
